Montego Bay, Jamaica

Jamaica's main resort coast, and the deepest real cluster in our Jamaica collection -- six properties ranging from all-inclusive resorts to boutique beachfront stays.

Best time to go

Mid-December through mid-April is Montego Bay's real high season: the dry season, and the most reliable stretch for an outdoor ceremony without an afternoon downpour to plan around. Hurricane season runs June through November (NOAA), peaking in August and September — Montego Bay is rarely hit directly, but the wider rainy season (May–November) does bring regular short, heavy afternoon showers worth a covered backup plan.

Areas worth knowing

  • Rose Hall — the resort corridor east of the airport, home to several of the destination's largest properties in our collection, including Round Hill and JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar
  • Ironshore — closer to Sangster International Airport, a mix of resorts and residential streets
  • Gloucester Avenue (the 'Hip Strip') — Montego Bay's walkable restaurant and nightlife strip, a real option for a rehearsal dinner away from a resort's own restaurants

Rates across our stays

Listed rates across the 4 stays we hold notes on here run $380 to $1,100 a night (checked Aug 17, 2026). Snapshots, not live prices.

A sample Montego Bay, Jamaica itinerary

A real weekend built from properties already in our collection: arrive into Sangster International Airport and check in at a Montego Bay resort such as Round Hill Hotel and Villas or Sandals Montego Bay; a welcome dinner on the Hip Strip for guests who want to leave the resort once; a beachfront or garden ceremony the next afternoon; a final morning at the pool or spa before departure. None of these properties are currently confirmed wedding-block partners — this reflects their real locations and real amenities, not a booked itinerary.

Worth knowing before you go

Sangster International Airport (MBJ) is the real gateway for this coast, and for Negril roughly 90 minutes further west — most Jamaica wedding weekends route guests through MBJ regardless of which specific property they land at. All-inclusive resorts on this coast are typically available for a full or semi-private buyout for a wedding block, which simplifies catering and bar logistics, but usually requires committing to a minimum room block well ahead of the date.

Common questions about Montego Bay, Jamaica

How far is Montego Bay from the airport guests will actually fly into?

Sangster International Airport (MBJ) sits directly in Montego Bay for most properties on this coast — typically a short transfer, not a long drive, which is one real advantage over Negril or the north-coast resorts further out.

Can an all-inclusive resort in Montego Bay host a private wedding, or is it shared with other guests?

Many of the larger all-inclusive properties on this coast offer full or partial buyouts for weddings, which keeps the event private from other hotel guests, but that typically requires booking a minimum number of rooms rather than a handful of individual reservations.

Is Montego Bay affected by hurricane season the same way as Florida?

The season runs the same months (June–November) and peaks the same weeks (August–September), but Jamaica's south-of-Florida position means Montego Bay is hit directly far less often than the Keys — the bigger practical risk is the ordinary rainy-season afternoon downpour, not a storm.
